Ravi Mohan Makes His Directorial Debut with Yogi Babu Comedy An Ordinary Man
An Ordinary Man stars Yogi Babu in a satirical comedy directed by Ravi Mohan in his filmmaking debut. Filming has begun with Netflix already on board.
An Ordinary Man, a comedy-drama starring Yogi Babu in the lead, has gone on floors. The film marks the directorial debut of Telugu actor Ravi Mohan, who has written the story and is producing it under his newly launched banner Ravi Mohan Studios.
Ravi Mohan, known for films like Ramarao on Duty and Pakka Commercial, is making a deliberate shift behind the camera. This is the first of an ambitious slate of ten films announced by Ravi Mohan Studios over the next two years, so there is clearly a larger plan at work here. Keneeshaa is producing alongside Ravi Mohan.

The film is described as a satirical comedy with social observation, and early details suggest it follows an ordinary man on his first trip abroad, dealing with insomnia, anxiety and unexpected chaos. The tagline reads: “Counting sheep won’t help this ordinary man get some sleep.” If the premise sounds like a setup for Yogi Babu’s brand of physical comedy layered with something more pointed, that seems to be exactly the intention.
Yogi Babu, who has been steadily transitioning from scene-stealing supporting turns to full-fledged leads (Gurkha, Panni Kutty, Mandela), carries the film as the central character. Having him front a comedy with satirical edges is a smart fit for a debut director looking to balance commercial appeal with substance.

The technical crew includes cinematographer Vivan Ambrose, music composer Hydro, art director Sowndhar and costume designer Praveen Raj. Stunt Siva handles the action choreography.

Netflix has already picked up An Ordinary Man as part of its 2026 Tamil lineup, which suggests the streamer sees commercial potential in the project. The rest of the cast and further details are expected to be announced soon.
