Love Insurance Kompany lands on Prime Video May 6
Vignesh Shivan's Love Insurance Kompany, with Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty, lands on Prime Video on May 6 after a mixed theatrical run.
Vignesh Shivan’s Love Insurance Kompany, the futuristic romantic comedy that opened in theatres on April 10, lands on Prime Video on May 6. Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty headline a story set in a dating-app-driven near-future, with SJ Suryah, Seeman, and Gouri G Kishan in supporting roles.
The OTT date arrives roughly four weeks after the theatrical launch, which is now the standard window for mid-budget releases out of Chennai. The theatrical run itself was a soft one. Reviews were polite but mixed; box-office returns settled into average territory rather than the breakthrough numbers Pradeep Ranganathan has been associated with on the back of his last two outings as actor and writer, including Dragon.
LIK took an unusually long road to release, with three date changes through 2025 before the April 10 window finally held. The premise, a man pushing back against an institution that uses algorithms to engineer romantic compatibility, gives Vignesh Shivan the kind of high-concept canvas his earlier work had hinted at without quite committing to.
Critical response suggested the worldbuilding stayed thinner than the conceit deserved, with the futurism mostly providing decoration around a familiar romantic-conflict structure.
For viewers who skipped the theatrical run, May 6 is the first chance to watch at home. Prime Video has not announced whether the film arrives in dubbed Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam tracks at launch, but the platform’s recent pattern with Tamil acquisitions suggests they will be added either at launch or within the first week.
