Selvaraghavan and G.V. Prakash Kumar have one of Tamil cinema’s more interesting musical partnerships. Aayirathil Oruvan delivered a score that fans still revisit over a decade later. Mayakkam Enna’s soundtrack became a benchmark for romantic albums. With Mental Manadhil, the dynamic shifts: for the first time, Selvaraghavan is directing G.V. Prakash not just as his composer, but as his leading man.
The film’s first single, Uyire Uyire, arrived this week, released by actor Karthi on social media. Written by Selvaraghavan, composed by G.V. Prakash, and sung by Kapil Kapilan, it’s the third time this director-composer pair have collaborated on lyrics and music, and both previous outings produced standout albums.

Mental Manadhil stars G.V. Prakash opposite Madhuri Jain, with actress Seetha in a key supporting role. Arun Ramakrishnan handles cinematography, Balaji is on editing, and R.K. Vijay Murugan manages art direction.

G.V. Prakash is producing the film himself under his Parallel Universe Pictures banner, with Dinesh Guna as executive producer. Between composing the score, playing the lead, and bankrolling the project, Mental Manadhil is about as personal a bet as it gets.
