My Dear Dolly Team Pledges Film Revenue for Children Fighting Blood Cancer

Tamil film My Dear Dolly, starring VJ Pappu and Anupama, pledges a portion of box office earnings for children battling blood cancer.

My Dear Dolly, the Tamil romantic drama now playing in theatres, comes with an unusual commitment from its makers. Co-producer M.J. Sivaramakrishna has announced that a portion of the film’s box office revenue will be donated to children undergoing treatment for blood cancer.

It’s not a disconnected PR move. The film itself threads a leukemia storyline into what is otherwise a love story, making the charity pledge feel like an extension of the narrative rather than a marketing add-on.

Directed and written by A. Aravinth Raj, My Dear Dolly stars VJ Pappu and Anupama in the lead roles. The film plays on 90s nostalgia meeting present-day romance, with Pappu’s character caught between old memories and new affections. The supporting cast includes Kalakka Povathu Yaaru fame Rajavelu in a comic role, alongside Sudha, Thara, Keerthana, Asha, Rajamani, Baby Deekshitha, and Dominic.

Produced under the Simhamurthi Cinemas banner by R.M. Jayaramachandran, the film has M. Fazil on music, Balaji K Sekar handling cinematography, and Siddharth on the edit.

Sivaramakrishna’s announcement has drawn appreciation from across the Tamil film industry. For a modestly budgeted production, tying its earnings to a cause it addresses on screen is a quietly noteworthy move.
