The India Story, a drama starring Kajal Aggarwal Kitchlu and Shreyas Talpade, has set July 24 as its theatrical release date, with a release-date poster that lays out the film’s brief in a single image: a pesticide tank standing inside a wooden witness box, framed against the Bombay High Court. The tagline reads Slow Poison In Progress. The film is directed by Chettan DK and is being released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi simultaneously.

Written and produced by Sagar B Shinde, The India Story is built around the misuse of agricultural chemicals and the regulatory gap that lets it continue. The film follows one family’s experience but widens out, the makers say, into an argument about industrial negligence and corporate accountability. Shinde, in his statement, called it “a reality that often goes unnoticed but impacts countless lives across the country” and said the goal was to start a conversation about regulation, not only to document harm.

The film is also being referred to internally as The India Story: Slow Poison in some early materials, which doubles as the tagline. Chettan DK described the on-set work in restrained terms. “Kajal and Shreyas have delivered incredibly nuanced performances, and their commitment has truly elevated the film.”

Kajal Aggarwal Kitchlu and Shreyas Talpade share the screen for the first time here, with the poster billing them above the title. Cinematography is by Nishant Bhagwat, music by Mangesh Dhakde, lyrics by Shakeel Azami, editing by Ashish Mhatre and sound design by Anmol Bhave.

The India Story releases in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu on July 24.
