Warrant Teaser: ZEE5 Returns to the World of Vilangu, Premieres May 22

ZEE5 has unveiled the first teaser for Warrant, a new Tamil original positioned as a spinoff of Vilangu, the streamer’s 2022 rural-noir police drama. Formally titled N. Kottai Karuppasamy after its central character, the show premieres on Tamil ZEE5 on May 22.

The key art pairs the two leads against a wall papered with old Tamil newspaper clippings. One sits with a wooden lathi across his lap and vibhuti streaked across his forehead, calm and uniformed in posture; the other, bearded and slumped beside him, has a bandaged elbow and the worn body language of a man who has been in that room a while. The title plate stacks “N. Kottai Karuppasamy” in a smaller serif beneath the larger red “Warrant” block, signalling a series built around the Karuppasamy figure rather than treating him as a side beat.

Sam CS handles the music. The streamer is leaning on the Vilangu connection as its headline pitch, framing Warrant explicitly as content “from the world of Vilangu” rather than a standalone debut, which sets the bar at the police-procedural register that show established.

May 22 puts Warrant on a sub-three-week runway, with the first content drop now public on Tamil ZEE5’s channels.
